Alpha GST in Hepatology Testing
Serum Alpha glutathione S-Transferase (alpha GST) is a sensitive and specific means of investigating hepatocyte injury and recovery. Alpha GST represents up to 4% of the total soluble protein of hepatocytes in normal healthy individuals. It is rapidly released in response to hepatocyte injury and, with a half life of about 90 minutes in serum, it provides accurate toxicokinetics. These factors make alpha GST the most accurate indicator of acute hepatocyte injury in man. Furthermore, matching assays for rodent and in-vitro samples simplify comparisons between experimental and clinical studies.

Argutus Medical HEPKIT (R) Alpha GST EIA
HEPKIT Alpha is a quantitative enzyme immunoassay for alpha GST in human serum and plasma. The Hepkit alpha GST is for reasearch use only and not for use in diagnostic procedures. For the assay of alpha GST in other material and species, contact Argutus for advice.
The test procedure is based on the sequential addition of sample, anti alpha GST enzyme conjugate and substrate to microassay wells coated with anti alpha GST. The resultant colour intensity is proportional to the amount of alpha GST present in the sample. Assay range is 0 - 40 ug/L, equivalent to 0 - 100 ug/L in samples diluted 1/5, and total assay time is 2 hours.
