High Sensitivity Alpha GST

Alpha GST and Hepatology

Alpha Glutathione S-transferase (Alpha GST) is a sensitive and specific means of investigating hepatocyte injury and recovery. Alpha GST represents up to 4% of the total soluble protein of hepatocytes. It is rapidly released in response to hepatocyte injury, which together with its short blood half life of only 90 minutes, provides very accurate toxicokinetics. These factors make alpha GST the most accurate indicator of hepatocyte injury in man. The Argutus Medical High Sensitivity Alpha GST differs from HEPKIT Alpha in that it is more sensitive, providing the possibility to study alpha GST when sample size is limited or if very low levels are expected. The availability of matching assays for rodent and in-vitro samples simplies comparisons between experimental and clinical studies.

Argutus Medical High Sensitivity Alpha GST EIA

The High Sensitivity Alpha is a quantitative enzyme immunoassay for alpha GST in human serum and plasma. For the assay of Alpha GST in other materials and species, contact Argutus Medical for advice.

The test procedure is based on the sequential addition of sample, anti alpha GST enzyme conjugate and substrate to microassay wells coated with anti alpha GST. The resultant colour intensity is proportional to the amount of alpha GST present in the sample. Assay range is 0-2µg/L, equivalent to 0-20µg/L in samples diluted 1/10, and total assay time is 2 hours.
