Trypsinogen Activation
Peptide (TAP) is produced by the intra-pancreatic activation of the
proteolytic enzyme trypsin. Its presence in body fluids is a highly
sensitive and specific biomarker for severe, acute pancreatitis. TAP
has been shown to be a valuable biomarker of severe pancreatitis in
clinical, toxicological, surgical and transplantation studies. The very
high sensitive and specificity of TAP makes it an especially powerful
test for excluding pancreatic injury in many species.
Trypsinogen Activation Peptide is conserved amongst vertebrates enabling the Argutus Medical TAP EIA to be used in many species. TAP has been shown to be a valuable biomarker in toxicological, surgical and transplantation studies in e.g. mice, rats, dogs and pigs. Only a small urine, plasma or tissue homogenate sample is required. The availability of a matching human assay simplifies the transfer of results into human studies.
